Lasagna

The recipe comes from Pinch of Yum.

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of Bacon, chopped fine

  • 1 large shallot, minced

  • 3 carrots, minced

  • 1.5 lbs. ground beef

  • 1 jar tomato basil sauce (25oz)

  • salt

  • pepper

  • 1/2 cup dry red wine

  • 4 oz Requeijão

  • 2 packs fresh lasagna noodles

  • 1 large pack fresh mozzarella (sliced)

  • 2 lbs. shredded mozzarella

  • Shredded Parmesean

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees

  • Brown bacon to crispy in dutch oven

  • Add shallots and carrots, cook until soft

  • Add ground beef, salt, and pepper, and brown

  • Drain off fat

  • Add tomato sauce and wine, simmer for 10 minutes

  • Stir in Requeijão and melt

  • Transfer sauce to bowl

  • Layer in fresh noodles, coating in sauce

  • Add a layer of meat sauce, and a layer of shredded mozzarella

  • Every second layer, add fresh mozzarella

  • Repeat until pot is full and no sauce remains

  • Bake for 30 minutes with lid on

  • Raise heat to 425 and remove lid, let cheese brown

  • Let stand for 10 minutes prior to serving
